The CinePearl Take
Gerard Johnstone’s direction keeps the tension tight while letting the jokes land with perfect timing, creating a rhythm that feels both unsettling and amusing. O’Reilly shines as Kylie, balancing sarcasm with genuine fear, and Wallace Chapman adds a surprisingly eerie gravitas as her mother. The film’s low‑budget set design becomes an asset, turning every hallway and attic nook into a source of dread or punchline, making Housebound a standout in the horror‑comedy niche.
