The CinePearl Take
Director Yuki Tanaka delivers a sleek, claustrophobic atmosphere, letting the city itself become a character that mirrors the protagonist’s fragmented mind. The lone performance by newcomer Haru Saito as the tormented puzzle master is hauntingly precise, conveying dread with barely a word. While the pacing slows deliberately in the middle act, it rewards patient viewers with layered symbolism about memory and identity. By the climax, the film’s thematic puzzle—what it means to complete a life—clicks into place with satisfying, if bittersweet, resolution.
