Why Watch This
Kechiche returns to the sun‑drenched streets of Montpellier to capture a summer of reckless love, friendship, and the inevitable ache of growing up. The film’s unflinching honesty and lingering, almost tactile atmosphere make it a rare, immersive portrait of youthful desire.
Best For
Romance lovers, French cinema fans, Summer‑vibe seekers, Indie drama enthusiasts, Mature audiences
The CinePearl Take
Kechiche’s signature naturalism shines brightest in the beach sequences, where the camera lingers just long enough to let tension breathe. The breakout performance by newcomer Leïla Ben‑Mansour, who balances sensual confidence with fragile vulnerability, anchors the ensemble. While the deliberate pacing can feel languid, it mirrors the heat‑soaked inertia of the characters’ lives, turning idle moments into emotional truth‑tables.
