Why Watch This
Yeom Ji-ho’s latest horror venture, The Eyes, turns ordinary urban legends into a visceral, night‑mare‑fuelled experience that lingers long after the credits roll. Its claustrophobic set‑pieces and relentless sound design make the city itself feel like a haunted entity.
Best For
Horror fans, Korean cinema lovers, Fans of atmospheric thrillers, Late‑night binge‑watchers, Social‑commentary seekers
The CinePearl Take
Ji‑ho’s direction is unapologetically slow‑burn, allowing dread to accumulate in every hallway and alley. The limited cast delivers unsettlingly raw performances, especially the lead who conveys terror through silence alone. The film’s thematic focus on surveillance and collective paranoia feels eerily prescient for a post‑pandemic world, even if the narrative occasionally drifts into familiar genre tropes.
