The CinePearl Take

Director Setsurō Wakamatsu balances procedural detail with emotional weight, letting the audience feel the crushing pressure of each decision. Koichi Sato’s stoic yet weary portrayal of plant manager Masao Yoshida anchors the narrative, while the ensemble’s understated performances keep the focus on collective resolve. The pacing is relentless, mirroring the ticking clock of radiation leaks, and the film’s underlying theme—human dignity in the face of invisible danger—resonates long after the credits roll.
