The CinePearl Take
Schmidt‑Garre’s patient pacing lets the stories unfold like a slow‑motion reverie, allowing viewers to breathe with each subject’s nightly odyssey. The voice‑over narration, delivered by poet‑activist Anja Lenz, adds a lyrical thread that ties the disparate accounts together. Visually, the blend of high‑speed macro photography and hand‑drawn animation mirrors the fragile boundary between waking and dreaming, reinforcing the film’s central theme of addiction to the subconscious.
