Why Watch This
Candyman is a daring experiment that merges the visceral terror of slasher conventions with the uncanny charm of puppetry, delivering a bite‑size shock that feels both nostalgic and fresh. In just a few minutes, director Nia DaCosta builds a claustrophobic atmosphere that makes the viewer question what’s real and what’s marionette.
Best For

The CinePearl Take
DaCosta’s short proves that a limited runtime can still pack a punch, using the puppet’s jerky movements to amplify the film’s dread rather than distract. The pacing is relentless, with each cut tightening the sense of impending doom. While the cast remains anonymous, the lead puppet’s unsettling stare becomes a character in its own right, embodying the film’s theme of hidden horrors lurking behind familiar faces.
