The CinePearl Take

Katy Correa delivers a nuanced, almost wordless performance that anchors the film’s emotional core, capturing the restless yearning of a diaspora protagonist. Gomis’s deliberate pacing lets each frame breathe, allowing the landscape and the unspoken tensions to speak louder than dialogue. The recurring motif of water as a symbol of both cleansing and loss adds a lyrical layer that elevates the narrative beyond a simple coming‑of‑age story.
