Why Watch This
Felon offers a gritty, unflinching look at the American prison system through the eyes of a first‑time inmate forced to navigate brutal hierarchies. Stephen Dorff’s restrained performance as Wade Porter anchors the film’s tense, claustrophobic atmosphere.
Best For
Prison drama fans, Crime thriller enthusiasts, Character study lovers, Fans of gritty realism, Val Kilmer admirers
The CinePearl Take
Director Ric Roman Waugh balances raw violence with quiet moments of introspection, letting the prison’s oppressive walls become a character in themselves. Val Kilmer’s gravitas as the seasoned inmate “The Man” provides a compelling counterpoint to Dorff’s vulnerable newcomer. The film’s deliberate pacing builds tension without relying on cheap jump‑scares, highlighting themes of redemption and institutional corruption.
