The CinePearl Take

Andrew Niccol’s direction keeps the narrative tight, weaving flashbacks that illuminate the original’s legacy while pushing the story into new geopolitical terrain. Cage, now a weary veteran of the trade, delivers a performance that balances swagger with a haunting weariness, and Skarsgård’s unsettling charisma makes the new antagonist feel genuinely menacing. The pacing is relentless, but the film pauses long enough to let its commentary on profit‑driven violence breathe, making the moral ambiguity feel inevitable rather than forced.
