Why Watch This

“Mama Weed” blends a gritty police chase with off‑kilter humor, turning a routine bust into a chaotic family drama. The film’s absurd premise—an over‑protective mother who runs a secret cannabis empire—keeps the laughs coming while the cops scramble to keep up.

The CinePearl Take

Jean‑Paul Salomé’s direction balances slapstick set‑pieces with surprisingly sharp social commentary on motherhood and the underground economy. Léa Dubois, as the eponymous “Mama,” delivers a magnetic performance that anchors the film’s chaotic energy. The pacing never lets the jokes lag, but the occasional tonal swing toward melodrama feels a touch uneven. Still, the film’s witty script and vibrant Parisian backdrop make it a refreshing addition to the crime‑comedy canon.
