The CinePearl Take
Director Shūhei Shibue captures the energy of the original series while giving the narrative a cinematic scope that feels fresh. The film’s pacing balances high‑octane concert sequences with quieter moments of character introspection, allowing the audience to connect with the protagonist’s yearning for artistic freedom. Though the cast isn’t listed, the voice performances bring a surprising depth to the eccentric cast, especially the lead’s earnest optimism. Overall, it’s a joyous celebration of music’s power to bridge eras.
